People in need of our help
Dear Sangha
Rinpoche has asked to begin a new project under the umbrella of Rime Shedrub Ling. Many of the Madison Sangha heard first hand about the plight of several Tibetans that Rinpoche has personally met or who have asked Rinpoche to help them in their dire need. On the web site you will shortly see profiles of several Tibetans, both individuals and families who live in extreme poverty, falling through the cracks of available aid sent to monasteries or the Government in Exile. This new project, the RSL Charity program will highlight those in need and accept sponsorship or one time donations on their behalf- sending it though the RSL umbrella account and dispersing it monthly. Each donation will have a receipt for tax records and follow up. The money will be wired to Khachab Rinpoche's sister ( Rinchen Chenmo Rinpoche's wife) Khandro Yeshe Paldron. They will oversee the money being given directly to those sponsored, in cash, so they can immediately buy the medicine and food so desperately needed. Any amount helps; $10. $20. $100-- whatever you can do, or chose to sponsor one of the children all the way through school. In the next month we will gather some "back to school" items for the family and ship it directly to His Holiness the Dalai Lamas office ( where Rinchen Chenmo Rinpoche is tied) and have the items bought directly to the family.
Rinpoche and the rest of the sangha are very excited about this new endeavor, and hope it will grow to help many more as we grow. Please keep updated on the website as we will add more information and new people in need. This helps at the most basic need- food, shelter, clothing and education.
First, I would like to introduce Lobsang Yeshi, a monk living in Dharamsala who has contracted a serious form of TB and has undergone two surgeries. I have included his letter on the web site. His most basic need is for some one to sponsor his medication which is $30 per month. Anything else would cover food and respite from the struggle of begging for help.
Next is the family of Aro Khamba, from Tibet, who have five small children they are trying to send the the Tibetan Childrens school. There are pictures of some of the youngest on the website. The parents make momos and other small items to sell on the street to feed the family and make do in a one room hut with three beds for all to share. This is a most special case, if you can sponsor a child or send a little to the whole family-- it gives them a chance to get on their feet. We will try to send school supplies in a month or so as soon as we can confirm affordable shipping.
Please help a mother and her five children in Dharmsala by making a donation.
